Crisp, sunny afternoon. 4 to 4:15 p.m. January 15, 2012. Metcalfe and de la Cathédrale Sts.

A piece of Montreal’s hockey history is disappearing.

Lower Canada College has started demolishing its covered outdoor hockey arena, built in the 1950s. I snapped the photos this morning on Royal Ave. in Notre Dame de Grâce.

CBC TV’s Lynne Robson profiled the arena in 2008, the year the school closed the facility.

I shot this time-lapse on Jan. 4, 2012. Shot from Peel and Sherbrooke Sts., 17 floors up.
